Beverly J. Smith Memorial Scholarship
$2500 Scholarship
Awarded Annually
(Fall Term)The Beverly J. Smith Memorial Scholarship has been established by the Harrisburg Branch of AAUW to honor our past president. Ms. Smith was a nationally known and respected expert on refugee resettlement and immigration. She devoted her life to helping people of diverse nationalities begin new lives and obtain education, homes, health care, and legal advice.
We want to honor her memory by assisting the education of a woman working towards a bachelor’s degree. We would especially like to assist someone who embodies Ms. Smith's vision.Criteria:
- Enrolled as a full-time student in the both Spring and Fall 2009 terms
- Female student having completed at least 60 credits towards a bachelor’s degree by the end of May 2009
- Attending an accredited college or university located in Pennsylvania
- Permanent resident of Dauphin, Cumberland or Perry County
- Demonstrated academic achievement, with at least a 3.4 GPA
- Demonstrated financial need

The Martha M. Dohner Memorial Scholarship
$1000 Scholarship
Awarded Annually
(Fall Term)The Martha M. Dohner Memorial Scholarship has been established by the Harrisburg Branch of AAUW as part of our continued commitment to the community and the education of women. Ms. Dohner was a respected member of our organization and an active community volunteer. We want to honor her memory by assisting the education of a woman pursuing her degree as a student at a local college.
Criteria:
- Enrolled as a student in both the Spring and Fall 2009 terms
- Female student having completed as least 15 credits toward an undergraduate degree by the end of May, 2009
- Attending an accredited college or university located in Dauphin or Cumberland county
- Permanent resident of Dauphin or Cumberland County
- Demonstrated academic achievement, with a GPA of 3.25 or higher
- Demonstrated financial need
